My name is Mel, and I am a 22 year old mother of 2. I am married to a wonderful man, Kurt. We live together with our two kids, Mack *girl*, 6, and Ronin *boy*, 11 months.

I am Pagan and my husband is an Atheist. We both will be raising our kids with open hearts and minds. I will be teaching them to be open to all other religions and to be kind to their beliefs, however we feel that they will not be religious until they are old enough to understand what kind of beliefs they want for themselves. I know that is confusing, but it’s hard to explain.

We celebrate all the regular holidays, but in a fun and kid-friendly way. We don’t explain the birth of Jesus on Christmas or anything like that. We do trick-or-treat on Halloween, open presents under the Christmas tree, and hunt for eggs on Easter. These are times to celebrate family, the Earth, and each other. I do celebrate my Pagan holidays with short traditions or rites. We also explain that ghosts and witches are real, but are not out to hurt you. I have not gotten around to explaining that I am considered a witch, but I will get to that in due time.
